Landmine-Detecting RAT Retires After Years Of Service

After five years detecting landmines in Cambodia, an African giant pouched rat named Magawa is retiring.

During his career, Magawa detected 71 landmines. Last year, he became the first rat to win the UK’s top animal bravery award.

He’s still on the job for a few more weeks, “mentoring” the new rat recruits that will take his place.
