A broken shoe almost cost a Virginia fifth grader the chance to walk across the stage at his graduation.
Thankfully, a teacher’s act of kindness saved the day.
Von Lewis, a substitute teacher at George Mason Elementary School, stepped into action after noticing the guidance counselor and the boy’s mom scrambling to find supplies to fix the shoe.
Lewis, who happened to wear the same size, gave the student the shoes off his own feet!
Art teacher Bradley Kopelove shared a few photos of Lewis giving the student his shoes for Facebook. “Thank you for looking out for our boys and creating a positive moment during a potentially terrible one for our student. #rolemodel,” she wrote.
