A 34-year-old woman named Tammy Lewis used to hold the record for the smallest premature baby who’d ever survived in a Texas hospital.
She was born three and a half months early and she weighed 1 pound 4 ounces at birth.
Now, at age 34, she’s returning the favor . She works as a nurse at the same hospital that saved her life.
She’s a respiratory therapist in the neonatal intensive care unit. So she helps save OTHER premature babies that wouldn’t make it on their own.
When she first started, she says some of the doctors and nurses who saved her were still there.
