The Centers for Disease Control has advised consumers NOT to eat or buy romaine lettuce because of an e. coli outbreak linked to the leafy lettuce. The CDC says people should not eat it, restaurants should not serve it and suppliers should not sell it. If you have any romaine in your home, you’re advised to throw it away and sanitize the area where it was stored.
If you do not know if the lettuce is romaine or whether a salad mix contains romaine, do not eat it and throw it away.
