Chris Stapleton is celebrating his very first number-one single.  “Broken Halos” made it to the top spot on the Mediabase chart this week.  Stapleton has won countless Grammy, CMA and ACM awards, but this is his first number-one single.  “Broken Halos” is from Stapleton’s 2017 album, ‘From a Room: Vol 1.’
Garth Brooks is breaking some records in Houston.  An impressive 75-thousand-755 people attended his concert at the Houston Rodeo on Sunday.  The show included a surprise performance by Trisha Yearwood, who teamed up with her husband to sing “In Another’s Eyes” before performing her 1990’s hit, “She’s in Love With the Boy.”
She’s someone you probably never heard of but she was a very important person in the world of country music!  Hazel Smith passed away at her home in Madison, Tennessee this past Sunday.  She was a music journalist, a songwriter and a radio personality.  She was also a publicist for outlaw legends Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and is credited with coining the term “Outlaw Country.” Funeral arrangements have not yet been set.  Hazel was 83.
