Darius Rucker paid tribute to one of his musical idols Tuesday night during the 2016 Kennedy Centers Honors.  Darius performed a medley of songs from James Taylor during the show which was recorded earlier this month.  James Taylor was honored along with The Eagles, Al Pacino, gospel singer Mavis Staples and pianist Martha Argerich.
Charlie Pride will be honored by the Grammy Awards when he receives a Lifetime Achievement Award in February.  Charlie had a long string of country hits during the late 60’s and early 70’s with hits like “Kiss An Angel Good Morning” and “Is Anybody Going To San Antone,” but he is mostly credited with breaking down the color barrier shortly after the Civil Rights movements of the 1960’s.  The 2017 Grammys will air on February 12th on CBS!
You know you’ve made it when your hometown honors you with a day of your own!  It was declared Maren Morris Day” this past Tuesday as Maren was honored in her hometown of Arlington, Texas!  The proclamation was made by Mayor Jeff Williams at Maren’s mother’s salon in downtown Arlington. In addition, the office of State Representative Tony Tinderholt presented Maren with a resolution and the flag that flew over the state capitol building when she was named CMA New Artist of the Year.
