It’s been a month since wildfires devastated Sevier County in East Tennessee—the hometown of Dolly Parton. Since then, Dolly has set up the “My People Fund” to raise money to help the victims of the fires.  Dolly’s telethon—Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund —last Tuesday raised just over $9 million with money still being donated. Dolly promised $1000 a month to the families who lost everything in the fires.  The first round of checks were distributed with 884 families receiving their initial support payments.  Another round of payments is scheduled for late January!
More Dolly news!  If you were hoping to own your own copy of Dolly Parton‘s heartwarming film Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love, you are in luck!  The DVD hit stores on Tuesday, just in time for the holidays.  It is now available in Digital HD at iTunes, Amazon and Microsoft, as well as on DVD & Blu-Ray!
So how does Darius Rucker and his family celebrate Christmas Day?  Darius tells us, “Christmas at the Rucker house is pretty laid-back. Our kids wake up early – real early – and open their gifts and we hang out, have breakfast, go to church, come home and play with toys and hang out and see family who comes by, and we go to see family. It’s just a pretty normal, fun Christmas Day!”
