Elton John 17 times platinum

Elton John’s Greatest Hits was first released back in 1974.  It included his earliest works such as “Your Song”, “Crocodile Rock”, “Daniel” and “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting.”  The collection was an instant number one album.  Recently the R.I.A.A. (Recording Industry of America) certified the album 17 times platinum which means it’s sold 17 million in America alone.  It’s now tied with Boston’s debut album, The Beatles 1967-1970, Garth Brooks’ “No Fences” and Whitney Houston’s “The Bodyguard” for 12th place on the R.I.A.A.’s list of best selling albums of all times.  Source: Vintage Vinyl News
