Windber Native Freed Honored

Windber native Alan Freed who’s recognized for coining the phrase “rock and roll” will have a homecoming celebration of sorts this weekend in Cleveland.  Freed spent many years in Cleveland, home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a disc jockey.  Freed’s ashes will have a permanent resting place at Lake View Cemetary in Cleveland.  Freed’s son Lance has spent months planning the event.  The E Street Band’s Steven Van Zandt will host this Saturday.        (Cleveland dot com)
