Country’s biggest stars from Blake Shelton to Brothers Osborne felt the passing of pop, funk, R&B and rock legend Prince earlier today.  Prince’s publicist confirmed his death in a statement.   Here are some of the posts and tweets from the web:

Darius Rucker:  “Once again Heaven’s band just got even more incredible.

Blake Shelton:  “Dang it… Truly hate hearing we lost Prince.

Brad Paisley:  “Oh no. No no no. Not another! So sad. Rest in peace Prince.”

Zac Brown:  “Already a bad year for losing musical legends. Gigantic kick to crotch to lose Prince so young. So sad.”

Brothers Osborne:  “Prince?! Damn.”

The cause of Prince’s death is unknown at this time but he was hospitalized briefly last week for flu-like symptoms.  Prince was 57.

If you saw last night’s episode of Nashville, you saw Thomas Rhett playing himself performing “Die a Happy Man.” Next up, Kelsea Ballerini will play her latest single “Peter Pan” in the upcoming installment of the show.  You can catch Kelsea’s performance on the May 4th episode of Nashville at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
