Paris has a meat vending machine

Sometimes you just need meat on demand. Parisians can now get Bayonne ham and Basque pate to put on their baguettes 24 hours a day from the first meat vending machine installed in the French capital. The machine is set up on the lively Rue de Charonne in eastern Paris and seems like a strange addition considering there are at least two dozen butchers shops and no shortage of meat in the area. The owners of one of the shops “L’ami Txulette,” Florence and Michel Pouzol, have invested the equivalent of $45,000 in the project. Florence Pouzol told the Associated Press, “We’re closed two days: Sundays and Mondays. So this is to cater for customers over the weekend…The ideas was also to serve people after the shop’s closing hours.” (AL.com)
